This diploma focuses on the rapidly growing new specialism of Project Leadership in organisations. It telescopes decades of know-how on the soft side of programme and project leadership into an accessible structure and blueprint of the ‘key steps’ required.

The programme explains how to generate positive results for projects and clients while growing as a leader and empowering the team to fully contribute.

By the end of this course, students will be able to:


  • Evaluate the role and competencies of leadership in delivering excellence in projects and programmes in a global environment.
  • Critically evaluate three core substantive areas of organisational behaviour: leadership and followership; corporate and national culture; the primary task and effective team/group dynamics.
  • Analyse the nature, interests and different power bases of stakeholder groups and be able to prioritise and manage stakeholders and use power and interest techniques to minimise stakeholder dissatisfaction and deliver agreed project outcomes.
  • Apply negotiating and influencing techniques to enhance the possibility of reaching satisfactory agreements with others.
  • Adapt leadership style and role to group dynamics and be able to manage teams effectively in waterfall, agile and hybrid environments.
  • Maintain personal integrity that supports an environment built on trust, that supports personal and organisational development and helps others feel secure and confident. Moderate or solve conflicts and crises by being observant of the balance between group dynamics, personal agendas and environmental resources and constraints.
  • Reflect on the outcome of a self‐assessment against the behavioural domain of the Individual Competence Baseline of the International Project Management Association.
  • Construct a project plan to achieve objectives of varying scale, geographic dispersion and complexity, while mitigating the potential risks inherent in large, complex, intercultural and virtual projects.

  • A level 8 degree, or equivalent qualification from a recognised body.
  • If you don’t have a third level qualification but have relevant professional work experience, you may be invited to interview (personal or telephone as appropriate) with the Course Director to assess your suitability.
  • Applications will be reviewed by the Institute’s Admissions Assessment Board. A CV will be required to check the eligibility.

How is the course assessed?

Participants are assessed in the subject areas on a mixture of written assignments and final examinations.

Is this course applicable to any industry?

Yes, the content of the programme is suitable for various fields. We have many students from different backgrounds, like engineering, pharmaceuticals, design, construction, IT and many others, who completed the course successfully.

What payment options are available?
  • Full payment before the start of the course
  • 50/50 instalment payment option: the first instalment of 50% should be paid upfront, and the remainder halfway through the course (week 7).
How can I get IPMA-B/A® Certification?

Candidates undertaking the course have an option to apply for IPMA Level B or Level A certification at a reduced rate of 40% of the standard fee, subject to them meeting the IPMA® experience requirements.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a project manager of which at least 3 years were in a responsible leadership function managing complex projects.
How much time do I need to spend every week to complete the course?

Live virtual classes run one evening per week, from 6:30pm to 9:30pm. Plan to spend approximately 4 to 6 hours each week on the core material and reflecting on what you have learned. However, as you can appreciate, this is very dependent on each individual’s capability.

If I don’t have the necessary academic qualifications, can I still be admitted?

If the candidate has relevant professional work experience but no primary degree, the candidate may be invited to interview (personal or telephone as appropriate) with the Course Director to assess the candidate’s suitability to attend the course.

Eligibility for those wishing to pursue IPMA Level B or Level A certification at a discounted rate will be assessed separately.
