What is Agile Project Management?

Agile is an adaptive approach to project management, focusing on delivering value early and consistently throughout a project. Understanding the different agile frameworks – such as Scrum, Extreme Programming (XP), Lean and others – will help you determine how the characteristics of a project dictate the right agile practices at each stage.

There are no prerequisites to apply for IPMA Agile® competence-oriented certification. The exam and certification fees are included in the course.

 

This certification evaluates your agile project management competence in the areas of Practice, People and Perspective.

 

The course curriculum and assessment are designed to help you develop and validate these competences in agile project management practices.

What is included in the course fee?

The course fees include the examination and certification fees, access to all course materials on the Student Hub, live expert-led virtual classes, recordings and unlimited support from our Student Support team.

What are the delivery formats available for this course?
  • Online. Classes run online over three consecutive days from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Your instructor is a certified Agile practitioner with real-industry experience. Do not worry about missing an online class – a recording of each online class will be available for playback in the Student Hub for a limited period of time. 
  • Classroom. Choose classes on campus for in-person learning with industry-expert lecturers. Classes run at the National College of Ireland (Dublin). Please note the scheduling of classroom courses may have been affected by Covid-19. 
Is the course suitable to people without former project management knowledge/experience?

The course is suitable for individuals from various industry backgrounds and anyone who directly contributes to projects. A foundational understanding of traditional project management tools and processes could be helpful.

Is the course applicable to any industry?

Yes, the content of this course is suitable for various industry sectors. We have students from different backgrounds – such as engineering, pharmaceuticals, design, construction, IT and many others – who completed the course successfully.

How is this course assessed?

The course is assessed through a final written examination (Multiple-Choice and Essay style of questions), which typically takes place a week after the last day of the course.

 

As part of the process to achieve IPMA Agile Level D® certification, candidates will also complete a comprehensive self-assessment of their People, Practice and Perspective competences before sitting the exam.

What credentials will I get from this course?

Upon successful completion of the course, you will be able to achieve the following outcomes:

  • IPM Agile Certificate from the Institute of Project Management

How much time do I need to complete the course?

Classes run over three consecutive days, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Plan to spend some time completing the self-assessment studying the core material while preparing for the exam. However, as you can appreciate, this is very dependent on each individual’s capability.

Are the course qualifications recognised internationally?

Yes, the course credentials are recognised in over 70 countries.

Will recordings be available if I miss a class?

A recording of each online class will be available for playback in the Student Hub for a limited period of time, so you do not need to worry about missing a class.

Agile is an adaptive approach to project management and it comprises several methodologies and frameworks.

 

Scrum is one of the most popular agile methodologies used today. It abides by the main agile values and principles, but there are a few Scrum-specific terms and processes you might need to know if you are working in a project environment using this particular methodology.
