Tell us a bit about your experience before the Certified Diploma in Project Management course?

I am a Chartered Civil Engineer and have spent the 10 years since graduating from NUI, Galway working on Civil Engineering projects in Ireland, the UK and Australia.

The nature of the roles I have had during my career to date have given me great exposure to the project management discipline as well as giving me the opportunity to travel, work on challenging and interesting engineering projects and work with some great people along the way.

What influenced your decision to do the Certified Diploma in Project Management?

I felt I had gained quite a lot of practical Project Management experience from my various roles, both as part of project teams and in project management positions. I wanted to undertake formal training to build on this experience and to gain an internationally recognised qualification which I felt would be a good basis for further professional development and career opportunities.

After some research I decided the Certified Diploma in Project Management was the ideal course to undertake.

Since completing the course what impact has it had on you in the workplace?

Undertaking this course has significantly strengthened my core project management knowledge and taught me how the correct application of project management processes, from initiation through to closeout, is vital for the successful delivery of projects of any scale.

I am now much more confident in my project management abilities and have been able to apply many of the lessons I learned during the course in the workplace which has had a positive impact on the projects in which I am involved.
