Key members of Ireland's IPMA Certification Assessment Team met in UCC to conduct a workshop on the impact of the new IPMA Competence Baseline 3.0 on the implication for certified project managers in Ireland. John Atkinson, a member of the International Certification Validation Management Panel which had overall responsibility for the development of the content of this upgraded standard said that 'it will result in a major re-write of the existing NCBI (National Competence Baseline of Ireland)'.
This work will be co-ordinated by the project team under the aegis of Ed Naughton and will be published in early September so that it is ready for the commencement of the academic year.
The existing NCBI was regarded in the IPMA family of 50 countries as being of the highest standard and was used as a model by many other countries. Certification Board Chairman, Tom Ryan said 'that it is imperative that the next revision must at a minimum meet, and even exceed the quality available from the proceeding document in order to maintain our high reputation in the international community and to ensure that we are at the forefront of the certification agenda'. |
