2 Irish Project Managers join elite worldwide group

In a competitive world organisations need to meet high expectations of their stakeholders regarding the management of projects, programmes and project portfolios. It is crucial for them to develop their actual project management competence and aspire to acquiring the highest possible level. Such is the case for the two project professionals who have recently acquired the pinnacle of IPMA certification (IPMA Level A) and joined the small but exclusive and elite group worldwide that have this status.

Here we give brief profile of both and their rationale for seeking this platinum standard accreditation.

Derek Tierney,
RPA & Dept. of Finance

IPMA’s advanced competence-based process has allowed me to continuously improve, incrementally and purposefully and apply project management competence elements to deliver highly successful and valued projects. This accreditation as one of only six level-As in the country has assisted in securing my current role in the Department of Finance which involves setting up a Project Management Office for the Mortgage Arrears Project.

Steven Mcgee,
Managing Director, Stewart

“I am very pleased to have gained Certification to Level A (Certified Project Director) from the International Project Management Association, which is a verification of my level of Project and Program Management competence. Given its International recognition, I believe it is a very important certification which benchmarks the standard at a global level and it is a valuable career development attribute."
