Eastern Region Award Winner

Ciara Buckley, International Affairs, Royal College of Physicians Ireland

Tell us a bit about your experience before the Certified Diploma in Project Management course?

I am currently the Manager of the International Affairs Department in the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, working on projects such as the development of the International Clinical Fellowship and Residency Training Programmes in the Gulf, as well as the successful delivery of the Qatar Revalidation Programme in Qatar. Prior to joining RCPI I worked in account management and client services in marketing and advertising agencies managing a variety of different brands and clients.

What influenced your decision to do the Certified Diploma in Project Management?

I was keen to add an additional qualification to my CV that was relevant to my current role and that could also be transferable for future opportunities. While I had some experience managing projects before doing the course I had limited knowledge of the theory and processes involved in Project Management. A couple of colleagues has completed and recommended the course and having researched my options the Diploma content appealed to me.

Since completing the course what impact has it had on you in the workplace?

The course has given me confidence, skills and knowledge in project management that I have been able to integrate into my current role. I regularly refer to my case study submission and use the relevant templates in a new approach to my workload.
