Colm McCarthy is one of Ireland's best known economic commentators, whose career spans work with the Central Bank of Ireland, the ESRI (Economic and Social Research Institute) and DKM Economic Consultants. He currently lectures at UCD.

He is a highly respected economist with a particular expertise in the energy and transport sectors. For over twenty years he has been a consistent panelist on national television and radio where his ability to reduce economic data to terms easily understood in layman's language and articulate them succinctly has won him many admirers.
