Brigitte Schaden elected President of IPMA

History was made in Copenhagen on Sat. September 28, when the IPMA (International Project Management Association) elected its first ever woman president. Brigitte Schaden from Austria, who has been acting as vice president for certification for the last 4 years, won a keenly fought election contest, edging out the UK candidate Mary McKinley.

Faculty members deliver IPMA World Congress keynote on 'Project Management and the Celtic Tiger'.

The Celtic Tiger is a term popularly used to describe the transformation of the Irish economy since 1990. It was first coined in 1994 in a report by economic consultants Morgan-Stanley who noted that the rapid growth of South Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan during the 1980s - a phenomenon known as the East Asian Tigers - was being paralleled in Ireland. Throughout the 1990s Irish living standards rose dramatically to the point where the country is now, at least by some measures, one of the richest in the world. Most significantly Ireland was effectively transformed from a pre-modern, peasant society to a post modern, high-technology economy.

Laura Magahy - First Woman in Ireland to Acquire IPMA Level A Certification.

The Institute of Project Management is delighted to announce that Laura Magahy of MCO Projects Ltd has become the first woman in Ireland to acquire the coveted IPMA Level A certification status. Her candidature was recently assessed in Dublin with the IPMA Vice President of Certification Brigitte Schaden participating in the process. She is only the second person in the country with this credential and is a member of an elite group of less than 200 throughout the world. The IPMA four level certification system operates in 43 countries and is expected to have 100,000 certified professionals by year end.

Institute Certifies 1500th Project Professional

The certification of project management professionals within the IPMA universally recognised four-level certification system continued its unabated growth with Gwenola Ollivier from Hewlett Packard becoming the 1500th registered professional in Ireland.
